Having been in practice since 1992 after graduating from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and completing a Graduate Diploma in Osteopathic Paediatrics in 1996, I have had a lengthy and very passionate journey with osteopathy. This has been an integral part of my life for over 20 years in NZ and with Stillpoint. I have continued throughout my career to do postgraduate studies in OCF and since 1998 I have been involved as a faculty member of the SCTF of ANZ.
The principles of osteopathy come to life for me when I feel how your bodies behave and change in my hands. I feel privileged to hold this space for you and your family and to unravel, reorganise and move towards a healthier version of yourself.
There are moments where you absolutely know that a treatment has changed the course of events for that individual and they know it too.
✓ Our work has heart and respect for your body even when at times you might not.
✓ Our work is unique – you are held with compassion and with the absolute confidence and knowledge that you are more than a bag of bones.
✓ You as an individual have a set of beliefs, a set of emotions. You are strong and at times weak, you are joy and at times lost.
All this needs to be acknowledged for successful outcomes.
Our work is important in the community as we offer support in a way that other health care providers cannot. We offer time, we listen, we evaluate, we leave the tests for those who know best and use our hands to understand the rest. We don’t do magic, we don’t read minds and there are no hidden broom sticks. We are here for you, whatever stage you are at, as a total human; body, mind and yes, spirit.
To have that as my job is a joy and a privilege!
